General questions
-
How secure is Netviewer?
-
The transmitted data are absolutely secure against outside attacks. The 128-bit Blowfish encryption ensures that the data are seen only by the intended people. Furthermore, a variety of security mechanisms on the architecture, application, and data protection levels ensure maximum security. The security of Netviewer is confirmed by multiple certificates, such as from Fraunhofer Institut SIT, OPDV approval of Sparkassen-Finanz IT (German savings bank), and the security certificate from Fiducia IT AG.
-
Can I run the programs on any PC?
-
Yes. For example, you can easily transport the Netviewer software on a USB stick and run it on any PC. Note that only one session is possible at a time and that the license key must be entered once for each PC. In other words, a Netviewer license is assigned to a single person.
-
Do I have to install Netviewer?
-
Installation is not necessary. The moderator/consultant and participant programs are directly-executable .exe files (smaller than 1 MB, Mac participant module approximately 2 MB). To quickly hold Netviewer sessions at any time, we recommend placing the programs on the moderator’s / consultant’s desktop or creating a shortcut.
-
Are Netviewer sessions free of charge for participants?
-
Yes. Your participants only need the Netviewer Participant program, which is included in delivery or can be downloaded free of charge from www.netviewer.com. The participant program is license-free and can be forwarded to as many Internet users as desired. You can also allow users to download the participant program from your own website.

After Netviewer starts, a window appears for entering LAN settings - proxy server.
-

The proxy input form means that Netviewer was unable to establish a connection to the Internet. This may be due to the following reasons:
In most cases, a personal firewall or an antivirus program with firewall functionality causes this dialog to appear. To enable connection, Netviewer must be registered with these protection programs as a secure means of communication.
Security systems in public access points like hotels, airports, or trains or in highly secure corporate networks may also cause this dialog to appear. The network operator’s help desk is normally responsible for the security systems and should be able to provide information or adapt the mechanisms. -
I am getting Error 800. What does it mean?
-
You are not connected to the Internet or have very low data throughput. Please check your Internet connection. It is possible that real-time protection systems integrated into your antivirus programs or network limitations are restricting data traffic. Our support team will be happy to help you troubleshoot the problem.
-
Transmission of audio and video is not working.

-
